Innkeepers, Honoria and Tom Montroy

Midland Road Manor Bed and Breakfast is a small, peaceful place to get away. It is located in the heart of the Sandhills of North Carolina on the road once described as the “Park Avenue of the Sandhills”. Tall pines and beautiful homes line the avenue from the Town of Southern Pines to the Village of Pinehurst. Both are three miles from the Manor. The Town of Aberdeen is about 5 miles south.

The innkeepers live on the premises and are devoted full time to the comfort of their guests. Extended stay options are available at reduced rates for guests that are prospecting area homes, awaiting a moving van or perhaps building a home. We welcome visiting business persons Monday through Thursday at reduced rates, breakfast optional.

The house sits on over six acres of various trees and open spaces. About 3 acres are open and available for picnics and sports. The property has many flowering trees and bushes that keep it in color for much of the year.

Guest parking is private, off the road and convenient to the guest entrance. RV parking is available on the property.

Guest Rooms
Guest suites have a large bedroom with a king bed, private bath and a sitting room. A natural gas fireplace gives a warm ambience to each bedroom. Each suite has its own thermostat controlled heating and cooling system. Cable TV is provided.

A coffee pot, refrigerator and a microwave oven are provided for hot and cold beverages and light cooking. Each suite has an iron and ironing board. For those who wish to use a laptop computer, a desk with a light, telephone with data port and surge protector is provided in the sitting room. DSL is provided in the Magnolia Suite and a reliable wireless signal is provided to the Rose Cottage.

Midland Road Manor is ideally suited to a couple or single for a long weekend or extended stay. Guests are served a delicious full breakfast that is attentively served each morning in the best Irish/American tradition. The breakfast is served either in the beautiful dining room or in the Main Hall.

Parking is convenient and a private entrance with separate keys is provided. Family reunions and other functions can be held on our large open paddock. Access is easy and parking space is plentiful.

Guest safety is a great concern. Each bedroom has an emergency light, fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide detector and a smoke detector. At least two access doors are available for easy egress.

Local Attractions
Midland Road Manor is conveniently located just minutes from Southern Pines, Aberdeen and Pinehurst. The towns of Southern Pines and Aberdeen are both historical towns with period storefronts in their commercial areas and fine older homes. Both have picturesque railroad stations and Southern Pines is an Amtrak stop. Local businesses include antiques, jewelry, books, tack shops, fabrics and clothing. Several excellent breakfast and lunch shops are open. Major chain food, drug and department stores are located in shopping areas away from downtown.

The Village of Pinehurst is reminiscent of an English country village. Interesting businesses as well as restaurants and coffee shops make an outing very enjoyable. The famous and historic Carolina hotel and the pro shop for the Pinehurst courses are short walks from the village center. Both buildings feature memorable photos and trophies from historic golf history. Walking tours allow the visitor to see many of the fine homes and cottages in the village.

There are many excellent local restaurants and bars in the area that serve a wide variety of food and drink at nominal prices. There are also many national chain eateries. All are within a short drive away.

There are over 40 golf courses in the surrounding area, including the famous Pinehurst #2 and Pine Needles courses.  Several Men’s and Women’s US Open championships have been held at these courses since 1996 and the Men’s Open will return to #2 in 2014.

Other nearby attractions include the Botanical Gardens at Sandhills Community College, The North Carolina Zoo at Ashboro, the Airborne Museum in Fayetteville, Scottish Games in Laurinburg, antiquing in the town of Cameron, auto racing at Rockingham, Horse activities including the Steeplechase at Stoneybrook and pottery making in several locations in and around Moore County.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautiful B&B home, and we hope to come back again when we stop through the next time. The bed was the most comfortable one I have slept in in a long time. The room is so lovingly and luxuriously appointed it certainly made us feel regal! Thank you also for the divine breakfast-fit for a king-and the most enjoyable company and conversation. Till we meet again! Auf Wiedersehan!"
